Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association Legal Action

Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association Contesting New UK Gambling Laws:

The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA), representing many Gibraltar based UK Operators, is currently seeking legal action against the UK government over the government’s intention to introduce new gambling laws.

The GBGA sent a letter to the Secretary of State for Culture informing him that it intended challenging the UK government’s decision to introduce new licensing and tax rules in a Court of Law as the group is of the opinion that the UK’s pending gambling laws will be unlawful.

The letter went on to say that should the UK government require all operators to apply for a license from the UK Gambling Commission it will be breaching European law and that this is bound to drive UK consumers towards unregulated or poorly regulated operators which will leave them exposed to unnecessary risks.
