France Says ‘Oui’ to Gambling

The French government voted this week to put through new gambling legislation without any changes or amendments.

The bill essentially allows for the “regulated opening of the market for online gaming” by offering authorization to operators who meet tough prerequisites, according the budget minister, Francois Baroin.

The RGA, however, said that the new laws made a “mockery of a supposed ‘controlled opening’.” The group said that the laws made it next to impossible for private sector companies, especially those who offer sports book services, to be successful in France.
