US Land Casinos Down; Online Gambling Up
The latest research shows that gambling revenues across 12 states where gambling is legal in the United States dropped 5.7% in 2009 to $30.7 billion.

While the recession definitely has something to do with these poor figures, analysts believe that the growth of popularity in online casinos definitely affected these numbers in the long run. “This shift has been gradual, which suggests that this is not a result of the recession,” said an analyst. “Casinos may be losing audience to the increasingly compelling entertainment offerings in the home; such as HDTV (high definition TV), high-end video game systems and the Internet, including Internet gambling.”

Harrah’s and Gamesys Launch New Bingo Platform in UK
The UK bingo market has seen the launch of a brand new site by the US gaming brand, Harrah’s. The group’s interactive gambling arm, HEI, partnered with Gamesys to create a top site that will serve the UK public only, bringing them quality bingo games and casino offerings. Players can win trips to Las Vegas as part of the promotions.
