Greece Suspends Gaming Tax Again

For the second time, the Greek government has suspended a controversial new gaming tax that will see casino game winners pay out 10% of their prize money to the state.

Sales agents of the Greek monopoly gambling group, OPAP, have strongly protested the tax, leading the government to take the law back to the drawing board.

“The finance minster will as soon as possible submit to parliament an amendment to suspend the problematic clauses on the taxation of gaming winnings,” said a statement by the Greek Finance Ministry. OPAP is calling for a tax free regime on all casino, sports betting and lottery wins.
