EGBA Not Satisfied with New French Gambling Laws
While the French passed new gambling laws in their National Assembly this week, online gambling groups have expressed their disappointment with the new reforms in their current state.
Groups such as EGBA believe that private online gambling operators will find it “unattractive” and “unviable” to work in a market that is so regulated and with such as strict tax regime.
Sigrid Ligné, Secretary General of the European Gaming and Betting Association, said: “At the time when Europe is watching the development of France’s reform, the introduction of even more unjustified restrictions is threatening to corrupt the efficient workings of the market. "
"If the Senate votes along these lines, the prospect of a French market that is both viable and compliant with EU law is a long-way off.”
