New Efforts to Change US Gambling Laws

As the Obama government seeks ways to fund its controversial new health reforms, one US Senator has reminded the administration where to find the necessary cash without looking too far.

Senator Ron Wyden introduced an amendment to legalize and regulate the online gambling industry in the US, a move that could contribute a staggering $6 billion a year to the government through taxes and other sources.

“We applaud Senator Wyden's proposal to collect and put to good use tens of billions in Internet gambling revenue that would otherwise be lost in the underground marketplace,” said a spokesperson for the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative.
