Affiliate Gambling Site Slammed
The government of New South Wales in Australia has come out strongly against an affiliate online gambling site that willingly targeted problem gamblers and redirected them to its website, where ads for some of the industry’s top gambling groups appeared.
The government demanded that groups such as Sportingbet and Centrebet officially condone these types of deviant methods and to publicly distance themselves from Bookmaker.com.au.
“This is an appalling tactic that appears to be intentionally designed to prey on vulnerable people in our society looking for help,” said the Minister for Gaming and Racing, Kevin Greene.
“Not only do these websites seem to be places offering assistance to those with gambling problems, they immediately redirected people to a website promoting gambling services. This appears to be a disgusting attempt to cash in on the problems of others.”
