What Women Players Want

A special live focus group at the Casual Connect Seattle Conference, comprising women gamers ranging from 24 – 61 years in age, revealed exactly what these players are after in gaming experience.

Organized by online social games site, King, the group provided some interesting insight into the gaming habits of women.

It was found, for example, that aesthetics were hugely important to women, who sought out color, animation and style in a game before choosing it.

It was also found that women were spending up to 8 hours a day in total playing online, and that they were just as competitive as men. “We continue to gain insight into our users through dialog, surveys and ongoing interaction,” said Riccardo Zacconi, CEO of King.com. “This panel provided a useful snapshot of new interests and trends within the casual games industry.”

Doolallys have found that women players tend to opt for bingo games and scratchcards rather than traditional casino games although many have followed the male lead into the game of poker and are actively playing.
