Will sportsbetting in NJ become a reality?
The state of New Jersey took one step closer to legalizing and regulating its sports betting industry, after the Governor, Jon Corzine, announced his intention to back a federal lawsuit introduced by iMEGA and Senator Raymond Lesniak.
The lawsuit calls for the legalization of sports betting in the majority of US states. “Delaware's entry into sports wagering and table games is a serious threat to both the casino and horse racing industries in New Jersey,” said Governor Corzine.
“We must to everything in our power to stay competitive. We simply cannot afford to sit back and let neighbouring states press an unfair advantage against us anytime, and certainly not in the midst of this global economic crisis."
