Victorian Govt Fines Intralot

The government of the State of Victoria in Australia showed no sympathy for Intalot, the company that runs its state lottery, and issued it with a $30K fine for non-compliance with lottery conditions.

Intralot could not find a TV station in Victoria to broadcast a scheduled live bingo game for which tickets had already been sold, and instead took the game to a radio station.

However, the government said that this was insufficient and that Intralot Australia would need to cough up the fine.

Intralot is struggling with dismal lottery sales tickets ever since it took over a 10 year lottery contract from Tattersalls in 2007. The company risks losing the contract if it is unable to improve revenue numbers.
