The Irish Open - Day 2

The 2009 Irish Open Main Event started yesterday afternoon and there were no signs of recession as a total of 700 players enrolled for the €3,500 buy-in Main Event.  Follow the action of Day 2 at out main poker page that's televising the event live to see who's going make the third and final day of this illustrious poker event, the largest in Europe.

The first day was full of action and it didn't take long for the sparks to start flying!

Even on the first orbit of the feature table, Brian Townsend got his chips on the table and hit a set of fives.  However his opponent managed trip Aces making him one of the first players to be eliminated from the Paddy Power Poker Irish Open tournament. 

The larger than expected turnout has increased the total prize pool to a huge €2,240,000.  286 players made it to the end of day 1 and the chipleaders were:

Some of the big-name players went out on day 1 including Roland De Wolfe, Dan Harrington, Ciaran 'Big C' O'Leary and, Donnacha O'Dea.
