Pennsylvania Poker Goes to Court

The High Court in the state of Pennsylvania will need to decide once and for all whether poker is considered a game of skill and an illegal pastime or not.

The decision to allow the Superior Court to debate on this issue came after two lower court judges decided differently with regards to similar cases.

In one case, Judge Thomas James said that, based on the evidence, poker is a game of skill and therefore the accused couple could not be charged for running an illegal gambling activity in their basement.

However, in another case, the judge found a man who ran poker tournaments guilty and sentenced him.

We certainly believe that poker is a game of skill due to the fact it's not just a case of playing by the rules that allows you to win.  You must use various techniques and tactics to win.  More can be found on tactics and poker strategy in our poker strategy series.
