Czech Rep Issues Online Gambling Licenses

Five of the top gambling companies in the Czech Republic will finally be able to offer online gaming services, after the government reached an agreement on the issue.

Local companies have been lobbying the government for years over the unfairness of the situation that foreign companies are allowed to operate in the market with no control or restrictions.

Until now, the Czech Republic has cited fears of underage and problem gambling as reasons why this type of entertainment has not been offered online. Czech companies such as Fortuna have promised to take all the necessary actions to prevent problem gambling, something they claim foreign companies don’t do.

It seems that the way forward for the online gambling industry is not to ban sites or betting activity but to impose regulations and rules that protect vunerables from gambling online.
