Norway Passes Gambling Law
The Norwegian government has come under fire from different factions for passing a controversial new law that will essentially bar banks from enabling transactions to and from online gambling sites.
The law, which was modeled around the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act in the United States, was supposedly created to curb problem gambling, however pressure groups claim that it was introduced to protect the state monopoly Norsk Tipping.
Norsk Tipping is big business in Norway and provides a valuable source of income for the Norwegian government.
It is believed that the law could reach the European Court of Justice if the European Commission steps in to act against the new gambling law in Norway.
