Free Poker, Security and Fraud Tackled

This weeks main gambling news summary includes leadership changes taking place at Gala Coral and new payment options for European gamblers.  As well as this, we'll see how some online casinos are tackling online security and fraud and looking at a free poker site for US players.

Gala Coral Announces Leadership Changes
Due to the departure of one of its founders next year, Gala Coral has been forced to make some leadership changes. The company announced that its current CEO, Neil Goulden, would be replacing the non executive chairman John Kelly from October next year, while Goulden’s post will be filled by Dominic Harrison, the current Chief Operating Officer. “After successfully completing the restructuring of the group's banking arrangements in May of this year, and the establishment of a new five year plan, I am very excited about the growth opportunities now available to the group,” said Harrison.

Ethoca Attracts Cryptologic
Ethoca, the collaborative internet fraud management organization, has attracted two of the industry’s largest online casino brands – Cryptologic and its internet games subsidiary, Wagerlogic. Both have expressed their desire to take part in the global fight against internet fraud and will thus be able to offer their partner sites better tools to combat scams and fraud.

Casinos that use Cryptologic include Intercasino UK, William Hill and Omni Casino. “Our business is built upon the twin pillars of integrity and innovation, and that's why we look for innovative approaches to protect the integrity of our business,” said the MD of WagerLogic, Antony Demetriades. “Fighting fraud is both a challenge and an opportunity - for our multi billion dollar industry, our customers, our players and our bottom line.”

PurePlay Poker Site Keeps Growing
PurePlay, the free poker website that is based in San Francisco, has proven to be so popular, especially among US players searching for a legal option to play poker and still win prizes, that the company announced that it had hit the 1.5 million members mark.

Players get to play poker absolutely for free, or they pay a monthly membership fee and enjoy huge perks.

“We are committed to staying at the forefront of legal online poker and that means pulling out the stops in giving our members the excitement of competitive play and generous cash prizes without exposing them to the risk of losing their own money,” said Jason Kellerman, CEO. “No other poker site has implemented this approach as successfully as we have in attracting players at all levels and delivering and online gaming experience that keeps hem coming back.”

New Online Payment Option for European Players
French, German and Italian online casino players will be pleased to know that they will soon to be able to enjoy a new online payments option. Ivobank, the UK based company, has already proven its worth in the local market, as well as in Ireland, Canada and Spain. Management recently okayed the next stage of expansion into more European countries, which will give more players the chance to enjoy safe and convenient online payment choices.

“Following our successful launch in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Canada, we are looking forward to opening up our rapid payments service to more customers across Europe and plan to introduce our service to even more European countries shortly,” said the company’s MD, Timothy Sawyer.
