Three sportbetting operators in the European market had their day in court this week, after a Belgian judge ruled to dismiss a case brought against them by the French Tennis Federation.
The companies – BWin, Ladbrokes and Betfair, were accused by the Federation of ‘staining’ the sport’s reputation by taking bets and asked that the court forbid them to continue to operate during the Roland Garros French Open and the Paris Masters tennis tournaments.
However, the court ruled that these companies could not be held responsible for illegal betting activities in the industry and he had been convinced that they took the necessary steps to prevent problem and underage gambling.
