Queen’s Award Received by Betfair

Online betting exchange operator, Betfair, has won its second Queens Award, one of the most prestigious titles that can be bestowed on a British company.

This year’s prize was won in the ‘International Trade’ category, while the 2003 prize was given for ‘Innovation’.

Betfair has over 1 million users spread around the world, with over sixty percent hailing from the United Kingdom.

The company’s chief executive said after hearing the news: “Upon winning our first award in 2003, our chairman and co-founder Edward Wray said that the company was looking forward to taking this great British innovation onto the global stage. Five years on, this award for International Trade is recognition of the strides we’ve made towards achieving that aim.”
