Epoc Headset adds Entertaining Features to Online Gaming.
A nuclear-engineering company, Emotiv, has taken online gaming one step further by creating the Epoc headset that will be able to ‘read the player’s mind’.
Due to be released later this year, the headset will be triggered by electrical pulses in the brain and allows players to relay their emotions (grimace, wink, smile and so forth) to their online avatars.
In addition, the Epoc will be able to understand simple thoughts such as ‘lift’ or ‘drop’ which can be used to control in-game actions. Tan Le, speaking for Emotiv, said that the headset picks up electrical activity from the brain and sends wireless signals to the player’s computer.
