Playtech Shares Rise Over News of ‘Mystery Deal’
Playtech shares rose on the London Stock Exchange this week after an announcement that the company has signed a lucrative deal with an Asian-based licensee. While Playtech has not released the name of the company, citing confidentiality reasons, it is believed that the new deal will bring in more than $5-million in the first year alone. Playtech has apparently signed a three year contract with the mystery company and will supply the site with Asian-focused games such as Cho-Da-Di and 13-Card Poker. Playtech shares rose 4%, with the company now being valued at an incredible $1.6-billion.
Canbet Switches to Microgaming Platform
The popular online casino site, Canbet has switched from RealTime Gaming software to the exciting Microgaming platform. Canbet, which is a subsidiary of the Australian gambling company, International All Sports Ltd., already uses Microgaming software to power its poker offerings. The new deal means that Canbet players can now access Microgaming’s entire suite of over 350 games and progressive jackpots. A Canbet spokesman said that the company was excited about the new partnership deal, which would greatly assist Canbet’s plans of expanding into European markets in the future.
Harrah’s English Buy-in Offer Rejected
The Las-Vegas based gambling company, Harrah’s Entertainment suffered a blow this week when the Rank gambling group (which owns Mecca Bingo) rejected their 28% buy-in offer. The UK operating Rank, which has seen its share prices drop in the past few months due to tax hikes and new gambling regulations, did not give a reason for turning down Harrah’s offer. Harrah’s Entertainment is actively seeking to increase its presence in the English gambling market , after closing a deal with London Clubs International last years. Rank is said to be considering other buy-in offers from companies such as Genting and Ladbrokes.
New Hitman Game at AllJackpots
To coincide with the release of the film, Hitman, starring Timothy Olyphant in cinemas across the globe, AllJackpots has announced the introduction of a free-play, non-downloadable version of the popular video slots game, also called Hitman.
