Red Dog
Tonight I fancied trying another casino card game, one which I haven't played in a long time and where I could barely remember the rules of! Red Dog is probably one of the simplest games to play in any casino, either online or off and although not the most exciting of games, is a worthy addition to any casino and is well worth having a go at.
Tonight I fancied trying another card game, one which I haven't played in a long time and where I could barely remember the rules of the game! Again I played at Intercasino. Red Dog is probably one of the simplest games to play in any casino, either online or off and although not the most exciting of games, is a worthy addition to any casino and is well worth having a go at.
The premise of Red Dog is that the player has to initially place a bet, which at a minimum of £5 can easily eat away your balance if you hit a losing streak. Two cards are then dealt. If you think that the next card dealt will be a value between the initial two then you “bet” and place a matching bet on the table, at Intercasino, this takes your minimum bet to £10. You can, of course, decide not to bet any more money. If you stay with the initial amount or bet more and the card dealt is outwith the values of the initial two cards then you lose, if the value is between the first two cards then you get paid out.
As an example, say the first card is a 5 and the second is a Jack (value 10) then the spread is 4. If a King or say a 2 is dealt then the hand is a winner but if a 7 was dealt then the player would win and would be paid out at evens.
The payouts depend on the range of numbers between the values of the first two cards. Most Red Dog tables pay even money for a spread of 4 to 11, the most common spread of numbers. If the spread is only 3 the payout is two to one, 2 pays 4 to 1 and the best odds are with a spread of 1 at 5 to 1. Three of a kind pays 11 to 1.
I tend to bet on any spread that is 7 of higher when playing Red Dog and stick it out with the initial bet in the spread is lower.
I should also mention that if a pair is dealt then you won't lose your bet, you can win if the third card gives three of a kind though. Consecutive cards are a tie hand and bets are returned.
I played Red Dog for a short while, maybe 5 minutes and with the minimum bet of £5, you really have to watch your bank roll as it can be depleted quickly, of course the reverse is also the case and a few wins on the trot can really boost your balance. I boosted my balance when two Queens were dealt and a third landed in as the third card giving three of a kind and £60 returned for my £5.
In the end though, I decided to quit the game as it doesn't really fall into the realms of trying to maximise my playing time due to the larger bets. Red Dog is a fun game though and those who like to bet a little bigger tend to enjoy this game with it's high and low swings. Red Dog is also an often overlooked game in the casino and I haven't a clue when the name originates but watch your balance if you decide to play this casino game.
Overall Red Dog is simple to play and very entertaining casino game. I finished up with a profit of £40 and £135 in my account mainly due to that lucky three of a kind. A good game but can be expensive.
