Real Madrid Sponsorship Deal Comes Under Scrutiny
The Spanish government is investigating allegations that a sponsorship deal signed between the famous football club, Real Madrid and the Austrian online casino company, Bwin, is illegal. This comes after a complaint was made by a Spanish watchdog group that claimed that the sponsorship deal went against the laws of the country that state that unlicensed internet gambling sites cannot promote their products in any way. The government has said that action will be taken if the charges are proven to be accurate.

European Gaming Conference Makes Plans for 2007 Event
After questioning over 200 potential participants through a detailed survey, organizers for the European iGaming Congress have released their vision of what this year’s event will look like. Due to take place in Barcelona in October 2007, the congress will allow for 1.5 hours more conference time and roundtable debates that will cover the current situation of the online gambling industry in the world. The organizers have promised delegates that the conference will be even bigger and better than last year’s successful event.

Online Casino Managers Back to School!
A new iGaming Academy – set up jointly with the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authorities – will offer online casino staff the option of improving their knowledge of the industry and assist them in obtaining a level of professionalism that players are seeking at sites these days.  The new academy will offer special courses for egaming managers, taught by specialist trainers.

Courses will be offered at all stages, from entry level to the more specific managerial levels. Participants will learn a lot about the industry, including new payment methods, affiliate marketing and staff recruitment – important topics in a world where competition is so tough and sites are doing everything to attract clients. It is felt that by giving online casino staff the tools that they need to adapt to the changing world of egaming, the industry will be able to promote a better reputation for itself in the fields of fair gaming and professionalism.
