PokerStars 10 Billionth

As reported a few days ago, Pokerstars were due to deal their 10 Billionth hand and sure enough the hand was dealt in a game of Texas Holdem that made one 19 year old Student $100,000 richer.

The Canadian student, Justine Hall was playing at one of Pokerstars micro-limit 1 cent / 2 cent tables when the magical number was dealt.  The poker site had around 100,000 players playing at the time all waiting to see if their table would be dealt the winning hand.

Justine had only $12 in her account at the start of the game and had 80 cents left in the game when the hand was dealt.  At the start of the hand, one of the PokerStars representatives typed into the chat box, “Welcome to the biggest hand of 1 cent 2 cent ever.”

The first player to act went all in for $4.83, followed by the second who folded.  Another player went all in with $6.43 and the next player folded.  The next two players went all in with their remaining cash, including Justine.

I guess the two players that folded didn’t realise what exactly was at stake at this point as if they did, for the sake of a few dollars I’d have certainly taken the chance of catching a nice flop, no matter what starting hand I had.

The two players that folded picked up $10,000 which is a fantastic amount at a micro-limit table but they were going to get that as a minimum anyway so folding wasn’t the right option to take.

The flopped cards were Ace, King, Ten, Nine and Eight.  This landed Justine a flush with the eight and three cards she had landing her a winning pot value of $100,003.23.

Justine was ecstatic with the win and plans to continue her education with the money being put to fund her University costs.  She also plans to have a bit of a shopping spree as well.

The PokerStars site is the only online site that has reached the mark of dealing 10 Billion hands.  This proves the popularity of the site, and also online poker in general over the past year, with the last milestone of 5 Billion hands being dealt less than a year ago.
