Poker Names - Kings and Queens?

Choosing a poker name can make a difference to you strategy, or so some poker players believe.

There are a growing number of men choosing a poker name that makes them give the impression they are female - it's a bluff. Females are also getting in on the act by registering men or male orientated names to make them sound like men.

Does this poker name strategy work?

A recent study has shown that around 1 in every 9 male poker players registered with feminine names because they believe that players use different tactics when they are playing against a woman, rather than a man.

Over 23% of female players registered their poker name with a male theme because they think that male players play too aggressively against women but not against other men.

It's a huge bluff that the players are playing, making other players build an expected persona about a player and letting it affect their gameplay without ever finding out that poker names such as "BigDaddyMan" or "PokerMan99" may just as easily be a woman. "PetiteLady" or "NiceGirl99" may be strapping big blokes pulling off a poker name bluff.

There's no much doubt about it that players will change their playing strategy depending on who they are playing but you should try to remember - online a poker name means nothing.
